Children of the Devil

Tuesday, Dec. 6

Paul’s views reflect Jesus’ views.  Take time here to read John 8:12-58.  He didn’t pull any punches.  The Jewish leaders’ physical descent from Abraham was not the issue; it was their heart response to God. They called themselves children of God (lip service) but Jesus called them children of the Devil.   They followed Satan’s lies and became his servants.  In Mt. 15:8  Jesus  quotes Isaiah:  “These people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me.”  In v. 14 He calls them blind leaders of the blind.  Their blindness does not excuse them.  They deliberately rejected all the clear evidence that Jesus was their Messiah.  They rejected His substitutionary death and remained unredeemed.  And they led their people down the same path.  They were without excuse and rightfully judged.  They were not children of Israel.
