When things are going smoothly, I’m happy. But sometimes I’m a bit uneasy because I know that sooner or later there will be another problem to deal with. I would like to avoid those “bad news” occasions, but God doesn’t always see it the way I do. I know he’s sovereign, that every thing that comes into my life is not just allowed, but designed to mold me into what he wants me to be. When I think that way, I relax (somewhat) and am more or less ready for the next crisis. I ran across a statement recently in a current issue of Our Daily Bread. I’m indebted to Tim Gustafson for this. “Your next crisis is your next opportunity to trust our unfailing God.” I still don’t get very enthusiastic about the next crisis, but it helps to know that whatever comes is ordained of God, and that He intends for me to embrace it, learn by it, and glorify God in it.
